Biking

Over the last several months, I've fallen in with a biker gang. Bicycles, that is. Several folks in the Embassy, led by our embassy doctor, "Dr. Tom," get together for relatively long (for me...) rides in Singapore and Malaysia, of 40-50 miles. We take "bum boats" to Malaysia, then ride along the coast through fishing villages, always ending up in a great Chinese seafood restaurant in a little town called Sengei Ringgit. Our friend Dinesh leads the Malaysia trips. It's a great way to see the countryside, get off island (of Singapore) and stay in shape.

LC AT A FISHING VILLAGE. I YIELDED TO PEER PRESSURE AND BOUGHT SPANDEX... DONT LAUGH! DINESH, THE TRAILBLAZER. YOU CAN PUT 13 BIKES AND RIDERS ON A BUM BOAT. A LITTLE CHINESE TEMPLE TO THE LOCAL GODS. . APPROACHING RAIN SHOWERS ARE VERY WELCOME AFTER CYCLING IN 105' HEAT! WE BECAME VERY GOOD AT FIXING FLATS... THE "GIRLS" . ...BUT HOW MANY GUYS DOES IT TAKE TO FIX ONE? LUNCH TIME! DR TOM, ALWAYS ON CALL -- EVEN ON THE BACK ROADS!
